Spires's wristwatch was the only relic he had of the world he'd lost, that and a coin he'd given to MacBain. The wristwatch though, was military issue, with full holographic display, communications, organization and a really good solitaire game.

A portal appeared. Not the violient angry rend in the world that had appeared once. It was small, and possible not noticed save by those who might be looking for such a thing.

(Dark Aether) - Hope

Stepping out of the secret entrance Gadget squinted as he looked fertively about checking nobody could see him emerge. Satisfied the coast was clear he set off, his eyes slowly adjusting to daylight from the dark foetid gore of the containment lab. These short excursions were literally a breath of fresh air.

Avariel Falcon peered into the tiny portal, and it was trully tiny, more tiny than the little test portals that her creator the late Doctor Falcon had created in her lab in Caledon.

Standing on the observation platform at the very top of Clockhaven Power Station, Avariel Falcon and Unit #6 looked out at the horizon through the lens of the aetheric scope.
